MN Sports Headlines for Thursday, Aug. 4th:

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - Michael Cuddyer and Delmon Young each

homered twice last night as the Minnesota Twins topped the Los

Angeles Angels 11-4. Cuddyer's grand slam in the fifth broke a

4-all tie. Jason Kubel also went yard for the Twins, giving them a

season-high five home runs.

MANKATO, Minn. (AP) - Minnesota star running back Adrian

Peterson is expected to return to training camp tomorrow following

the birth of his son. Coach Leslie Frazier says he spokes with

Peterson and was told everything went well. Frazier also says he's

hoping a new deal with linebacker Chad Greenway will happen soon.

MANKATO, Minn. (AP) - Minnesota Vikings cornerback Antoine

Winfield says the team had choice but to release Bryant McKinnie

because he was out of shape. The Vikings cut McKinnie on Tuesday,

and several players spoke out in support of coach Leslie Frazier

after practice yesterday. Steve Hutchinson says he was disappointed

McKinnie didn't show up in better shape.

MANKATO, Minn. (AP) - Vikings owner Zygi Wilf says he's hopeful

there will be a special legislative session to consider a stadium

bill for the team. Wilf says the team is still working on a $1

billion plan for a new stadium in Arden Hills. Governor Mark Dayton

has said he'll consider calling a special session if a plan came

forward that's good for the state.
