MN Sports Headlines for Wednesday, Aug. 3rd:

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - Ervin Santana followed up his no-hitter

by leading the Los Angeles Angels to a 4-1 victory over the

for his second consecutive complete game. A groundout by Jim Thome

in the fourth plated the Twins only run.

MANKATO, Minn. (AP) - The Minnesota Vikings have released

offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie. Coach Leslie Frazier says the

decision wasn't easy, but it was in the best interest of the team.

McKinnie spent the first nine seasons of his pro career with the

Vikings.

MANKATO, Minn. (AP) - Vikings first-round draft pick Christian

Ponder is excited to learn from Donovan McNabb. Ponder says McNabb

deserves to be the starter, and he knows he can use the veteran to

aid his development. But Ponder has made it known he's trying to

take McNabb's job as soon as possible.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Rookie Maya Moore scored 22 points last night

to lead the Minnesota Lynx to a 90-73 win over the Phoenix Mercury.

The Lynx led by five after three quarters and began the fourth on a
