57 year old Jim Norman was sentenced last week on 5 felony charges.
Norman served as the Renville city manager from 1990 to 1994, city manager of Montevideo from 1994 to 1998 and was serving as a city manager in Albert Lea at the time of this arrest.
Norman was found guilty by a Mower County jury for permitting flase claims against government, theft and misconduct by a public officer.
During the first few months of his employment in Albert Lea, Norman allegedly used city-issued credit cards to make $2,300 worth of personal purchases. Jim Norman was sentenced to 90 days electronic home monitoring and five years probation. Norman will not be allowed to obtain employment or act in a nonemployment capacity that requires him to be a fiduciary for any other person. He was ordered to serve 100 hours of Sentence to Service or community work service and must also obtain a mental health evaluation.
