INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Paul Menard took the checkered flag for the
Brickyard 400. He got his first career Sprint Cup Series victory at
Indianapolis Motor Speedway by conserving fuel then holding off
runner-up Jeff Gordon. It was his 167th Sprint Cup start.
Menard's victory continues the trend of first-time winners this
season in NASCAR's crown jewel events. Trevor Bayne won the Daytona
500, Regan Smith won at Darlington Raceway and David Ragan won
earlier this month at Daytona.
