OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Scott Sizemore hit a three-run double in

the fifth inning and the Oakland Athletics beat the Minnesota Twins

8-3 Saturday night. Jim Thome had two hits and an RBI for the Twins

in Oakland.

 

MILWAUKEE (AP) - Yovani Gallardo tossed seven effective innings

to lead the Milwaukee Brewers to a 6-2 victory over the Houston

Astros last night. Prince Fielder hit a 475-foot home run and Corey

Hart had a leadoff homer in the first. The win at Miller Park keeps

Milwaukee one and a half games ahead of St. Louis in the NL Central

lead.

 

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - The Minnesota Vikings have signed

free agent wide receiver Michael Jenkins to a three-year deal to

bolster the team's depth at the position. The Vikings made the

signing of the former Atlanta Falcons receiver on Saturday. Jenkins

will now be catching passes from newly acquired quarterback Donovan

McNabb. The Vikings are to report to training camp at Minnesota

State University, Mankato today, with their first practice on

Monday.

 

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. (AP) - Former Minnesota Gophers and Dallas

Cowboys running back Marion Barber is now a Chicago Bear. Barber

signed a two year $5 million contract on Saturday. The move

reunites Barber with two former Dallas teammates -- wide receivers

Roy Williams and Sam Hurd joined the Bears earlier this week.
