Pending the Government Shut Down. The Fort Ridgely Historic Site is making plans in hopes of reopening on Friday, July 22. The season will continue with regular days of operation of Friday-Saturday and Sunday if agreements are reached the State programs resume. The scheduled program by John Labatte will be presented on Saturday at 1:00 and 2:30 is pending.
Fort Ridgely 1862 Battlefield Tours
Join historian John LaBatte on Saturday, July 23, 2011 for one of the
40- minute walking tours of the Fort Ridgely Battlefield.
At least 9 of John's Dakota and white ancestors were involved in the
US/Dakota War in 1862.
View the video program in the commissary and then join John as he
walks the parade ground to share his research on the August 20 & 22
battles at Fort Ridgely.
The tour will be given 2 times-- starting at 1:00 & 2:30PM.
Historic Fort Ridgely is recognized by the National Park Service as a
National Battlefield and is listed twice on the National Register of
Historic Places.
MN State Park permit is required for this event.
Regular admission fees apply to the historic site presentations.
MHS and NCHS members can join the tour at no additional fee.
The Nicollet County Historical Society sponsors the program.
