Todd Bruns, age 50, of Olivia died Thursday, July 14, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. Memorial services will be Monday 10:30 a.m. at Cross of Calvary Lutheran Church in Olivia with Rev. Matt Hausken officiating. Visitation is Sunday 4-6 p.m. at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia. On Monday morning there will be coffee, rolls and a time to celebrate Todd’s life at the church for one hour prior to the service. Following the memorial service there will be a private family interment at Ebenezer Presbyterian Cemetery at Renville.
 
Todd Earl Bruns was born October 30, 1960 at Granite Falls, MN to Bennie and Karen (Bergstrom) Bruns. Todd graduated from Renville High School in 1979 and continued his education at Willmar Junior College earning a degree in Technical Illustration. Following college he was employed by Century Design in St. Louis Park. In 1989 he returned to the family farm to assist his father after hip surgery and continued to farm until 1993. He returned to school and worked in various jobs until 1998 when he became employed by Rural Computer Consultants in Bird Island. On September 8, 2007 he married Lori Kushmore and they resided in Olivia with his son Ryan and stepson Daniel. In his free time Todd enjoyed reading, working in his garden and around the yard, relaxing in his tiki bar, and spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed working at Rural Computers and being there with fellow staff members.
 
Todd is survived by his wife, Lori Bruns of Olivia; his son Ryan Bruns of Olivia; his two stepsons: Michael Kushmore and Daniel Kushmore of Olivia; his mother Karen and stepfather Jim Polfliet of Renville; his three sisters: Tammy (and Jeff) Steffen of Renville, Kristy (and Rick) Marks of Danube, and Angel Amundson of Foley; his brother Douglas (and Heather) Bruns of Renville; his eight nieces and nephews: Kelsey (and Paul) Staples, Katie (and Josh) Dahl, Rachel Marks, Reese Marks, Sawyer Amundson, Mackenzie Amundson, Makenna Bruns and Hunter Bruns; his great-nephew Levi Ben Staples; and many aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father Bennie Bruns.
