Mildred Ruth (Roberts) Eckstein, 85, of Sleepy Eye, MN died on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at her home in Sleepy Eye, MN.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and will continue on Thursday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.

Service will be held at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 10:00 AM.

The Clergy will be Father Mark Steffl.

Interment St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Sleepy Eye, MN.

Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye, MN.

Mildred Ruth Eckstein was born on October 1, 1925 in Sleepy Eye, MN, the daughter of William and Isabel (McKenzie) Roberts. She attended and graduated from Sleepy Eye Public School and continued her education in LaCrosse, WI. She was united in marriage to Joseph Eckstein, Jr. on December 28, 1945 in Webster, SD. The couple made their home in Sleepy Eye, MN. In 1970, Mildred started working for Control Data in Redwood Falls and retired from Zitech in 1989. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, canning - especially pickles, fishing, and most of all - spending time with friends and family.

She is survived by her children - Gerald Eckstein of New Ulm, MN, Jeanne and husband Steve Wilson of Braham, MN, and Jon Eckstein of Sleepy Eye, MN; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law - Debbie Eckstein of Des Moines, IA; and brothers - Thomas and wife Joyce Roberts of Sleepy Eye, MN, Jack and wife Cathy Roberts of Park Rapids, MN, Beach and wife Pauline Roberts of Sanborn, MN, Bob Roberts of Lakefield, MN, and Jimmy and wife Alice Roberts of New Ulm, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband - Joseph in 1970; sons - Jimmy in 1958 and Joe in 2000; a grandson - Brandon Eckstein; a brother - Merriel "Micky" Roberts; and sisters - Katherine Kerpatrick, Lois Danheim, and Helen Zobel.
