Redwood County Relay for Life



The 18th annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life for Redwood County will be held Friday and Saturday, July 15 and 16 at the Gilfillan Estate on Hwy 67 between Redwood Falls and Morgan beginning at 4:30 Friday afternoon with a supper prepared by the ladies of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Sleepy Eye.

There will be activities for all ages throughout the event including the Opening Ceremony at 7:00 P.M., the Luminary Ceremony at dusk, the Closing Ceremony at 7:00 A.M., music, food, team fundraisers, bingo, kids' and adult silent auctions, and more. Luminaria may also be purchased that evening. Cancer survivors are encouraged to register when they arrive and to take part in a special survivor part of the Opening Ceremony. There are golf carts and drivers available to survivors and others who need help getting around. People are also welcome to bring their own scooters and wheelchairs. The team Captains will also be recognized at the Opening Ceremony.

At the Luminary Ceremony the Honorary Chairman Virginia Kopischke and Honorary Co-Chairman Ann Christensen, both cancer survivors, will give a short talk. At this time the luminaria around the paths will be lit also. The Closing Ceremony in the morning will be for the presentation of awards to the top team fundraiser, the top individual fundraiser, Spirit Award, Best Campsite Award, etc.

Join the team members and support the fight against cancer! The Relay For Life is always held at night because cancer never sleeps.
