Roy Pankratz, 83, of Springfield, MN died on Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield, MN

Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield, MN.

Service will be held at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield, MN on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 10:00 AM.

The Clergy will be Chaplain Mary Pauluk.

Burial will be at the Springfield City Cemetery.

Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield, MN.


Roy Pankratz was born on November 3, 1927 in Springfield, MN, the son of Leo and Pearl (Gramse) Pankratz. He attended country school District #25 and farmed. In 1948 Roy took pilot training and began his career in Crop Spraying and eventually as a charter pilot. Roy enjoyed hunting, fishing, and collecting and restoring planes.

He is survived by his brothers - Clifford (Rosie) Pankratz of Springfield, MN, Andrew (Janice) Pankratz of Bloomington, MN, and David (Vicki) Pankratz of Shoreview, MN; sisters - Elise (Russell) Norcutt of Lompoc, CA, Irene (Luverne) Piotter of New Ulm, MN, and Marlene Marilyn (Roger) Barnes of Mankato, MN; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister - Doris; and two siblings in infancy.
