On 10/29/2011 at about 4:30 pm the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office was called by a rural Granite Falls resident who had been in the woods near his home in Stony Run Township. The caller said that he had found what he thought were remains of a human body. Deputies responded to the area, and with the assistance of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, collected the remains. The remains have not been positively identified, and will be delivered to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office for identification and autopsy.

The Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office and MN BCA will continue to investigate. As this is an ongoing investigation, further information is not available at this time.
