Norbert Bernardy





Norbert Bernardy, age 84, of Redwood Falls, formerly of Lucan, passed away Thursday, November
3, 2011 at the Sunwood Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Redwood Falls.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, November 8,
2011 from Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Lucan with burial in
the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday November 7, 2011
from 4 to 8 p.m. with parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation
will continue one hour prior to the service on Tuesday November 8,
2011 from Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Arrangements are being
handled by Sunset Funeral and Cremation Association of Echo and
Wabasso.

Norbert Henry Bernardy was born April 5, 1927 in Lucan to John and
Catherine (Manderscheid) Bernardy. Norbert grew up in the Lucan area.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from
1951 to 1953. On June 3, 1953 Norbert was united in marriage to Lucy
Hoffmann at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso.   They lived and
farmed near Lucan. Norbert was a member of Our Lady of Victory
Catholic Church, the Catholic Order of Foresters and also belonged to
the Colburn American Legion Post in Seaforth. After moving to town in
1989, Norbert continued going out to the farm where he fed his
chickens and sheep and tended his large garden.  He loved sharing
produce from his garden with the community. Norbert had a great sense
of humor, never short of witty comments.
Norbert passed away on November 3, 2011 in the Sunwood Good Samaritan
Nursing Home in Redwood Falls at the age of 84 years, 6 months and 29
days. He is survived by his 14 children; Jane (Ron) Baune of Wabasso,
Donna Bernardy of Walnut Grove, Michael (Jenell) Bernardy of Parkers
Prairie, Mary (Roger) VanDam of Redwood Falls, Rita (Al) Curry of
Redwood Falls, Barbara Bernardy of Redwood Falls, Daniel Bernardy of
Redwood Falls,  Joseph Bernardy of Lucan, Glen (Dawn) Bernardy of
Lucan, Julie (Jerry) Schwint of Redwood Falls, Mark (Bonnie) Bernardy
of Milroy, JoAnn (Troy) Werk of Eau Claire, WI, Patrick (Paula)  
Bernardy of Lucan and Teresa (Jason) Norcutt of Lucan, 37
grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren 15 step grandchildren, and 19
step great grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings; Tillie
(Alphonse) Guetter of Wabasso, Gen Rohlik of Wabasso, Adolph (LaVonne)
Bernardy of Wabasso and Marvin (Maureen) Bernardy of Seaforth.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Lucy, son Charles, one
great granddaughter, four step great grandchildren, brothers; Isadore,
Leonare and Lawrence; sister-in-law Leona and brother-in-law George
Rohlik. Blessed be his memory.
