Natl. Sports Headlines for Thursday, Dec. 29th:

UNDATED (AP) - There are now four undefeated Division 1 men's

teams -- Syracuse, Baylor, Murray State and Missouri -- in the wake

of last night's upsets. Markel Starks scored 16 of his career-high

20 points in the second half in 12th-ranked Georgetown's 71-68

upset of fourth-ranked and previously unbeaten Louisville and Keith

Appling's 25 points helped No. 16 Michigan State hand No. 13

Indiana its first loss of the season, 80-65

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Dwyane Wade hit a bank shot over

Gerald Henderson with 2.9 seconds left to lift the Miami Heat to a

96-95 victory over the pesky Charlotte Bobcats and remain perfect

in the young NBA season at 3-0. LeBron James led the Heat with 35

and Chris Bosh poured in 25.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Jarrett Jack had 21 points and nine assists

in his regular-season debut, and New Orleans dominated in its home

opener, beating the winless Boston Celtics 97-78. The Celtics are

0-3 for the first time since 2006-07.

UNDATED (AP) - Toledo and Texas won bowl games yesterday. The

Rockets won the Military Bowl 42-41 when Air Force's attempt at a

2-point conversion went awry with 52 seconds left and Texas beat

Cal 21-10 in the Holiday Bowl in San Diego.

DAVIE, Fla. (AP) - Miami Dolphins left tackle Jake Long went on

injured reserve yesterday with a torn right biceps, meaning he'll

miss the team's final game Sunday against the New York Jets. The

move came one day after Long was chosen a Pro Bowl starter for the

third consecutive year.
