MN Sports Headlines for Tuesday, Aug. 30th:


CHICAGO (AP) - Tyler Flowers drove in two runs last night as to

lead the Chicago White Sox to a 3-0 win over the Minnesota Twins.

Starter Mark Buehrle gave up just four hits over seven-plus innings

to pick up his 11th win of the season. Twins starter Kevin Slowey

remains winless on the year after allowing two runs on six hits.

 


MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle Kevin

Williams says he'll likely have to deal with pain in his left foot

all season. Williams returned to practice yesterday after being

diagnosed with plantar fasciitis before the team's last preseason

game. Williams says he felt pretty good running on the foot

yesterday.

 


EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - The Vikings have released ten players

in their first round of roster cuts. Quarterback Rhett Bomar and

defensive back Chris Adingupu were among those waived yesterday.

The team must trim their roster from 80 to 53 players by Sunday.

 


MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minnesota Lynx star Seimone Augustus has been

named WNBA Western Conference player of the week. It's the third

time Augustus has won the honor this season. She helped the Lynx to

a 3-0 record last week that allowed them to clinch the No. 1 seed

in the West.
