MN Sports Headlines for Thursday, Dec. 15th:


ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Patrick Kane scored in the second round

of a shootout last night to give the Chicago Blackhawks a 4-3 win

over the Minnesota Wild. Jonathan Toews also scored in the shootout

to go with a goal he netted in regulation. Kyle Brodziak, Matt

Cullen and Mikko Koivu lit the lamp for the Wild.

 


MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The Minnesota Timberwolves have announced the

signing of free agent point guard J.J. Barea to a four-year deal.

Barea says he's excited to join a new team and work with fellow

point guard Ricky Rubio. Barea spent his first five seasons in the

NBA with the Dallas Mavericks.

 


EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - Rookie Christian Ponder is trying to

stop personal performance skid as the Minnesota Vikings season

winds to an end. Ponder has thrown five interceptions in the past

two games and was benched in the second half of Sunday's loss to

Detroit. Ponder fully expects to start on Sunday against the New

Orleans Saints.

 


MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minnesota general manager Terry Ryan says the

Twins haven't ended contract talks with free agent Michael Cuddyer

amid discussions with outfielder Josh Willingham. Cuddyer has been

with the Twins organization since he was a first-round draft pick

in 1997. Ryan says "nobody is backed into a corner here."
