Larry Charles Lussenhop, the son of Robert and Louise (Grass) Lussenhop, was born September 23, 1929 in Paxton Township, Redwood County, Minnesota. He grew up on the family farm in rural Morton and received his formal education at Morton Public School, graduating from Morton High School in 1947. Larry served in the United States Army from 1947 until 1948; following his active duty, he served with the army reserves. He attended one year of college and then, in 1953, took over the family farm. Larry was a farmer his entire life, although he formally retired in 1995.
On August 17, 1957, Larry married Margaret Murry at Church of the Ascension in Norwood, Minnesota. The couple settled on the family farm in Paxton Township where, together, they farmed and raised their eight children. Larry was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Morton and served as a trustee, on the parish council, as a lector, and a CCD teacher. He also sang in the church choir and belonged to the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society. Larry served as a Paxton Township Supervisor and on the Morton school board. He loved working with horses and always had horses on the farm.
Larry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret Lussenhop of Morton; his children Jon (Karen) Lussenhop of Morton, Nancy (Jeff) Polman of Willmar, Ann (Mark) Ranney of New London, Chris (Carolyn) Lussenhop of Clarkston, Michigan, Judy (Scott) Hennen of Waconia, Amy (Randy) Senkyr of St. Clair, Tony (Sue) Lussenhop of Alexandria, and Patty (Brian) Ingle of Andover. Also surviving are his 23 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and his sister Mary Gresser of Blue Earth. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Roy, and his sister Betty.
Blessed be his memory.
