Jerry Greenslit





Jerry T. Greenslit age 75 of Willmar formerly of Franklin, died on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at his home in Willmar.  Memorial service will be 11am on Monday at the United Methodist Church in Willmar.  Visitation will be from 4-7pm on Sunday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church Monday.

Gerald “Jerry” Thomas Greenslit was born on April 10, 1936 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Bert and Margaret (Indrehus) Greenslit.  He attended school in Morton, Minnesota where he graduated in the class of 1954.  Jerry entered the United States Army in February of 1959 where he was stationed in Germany.  He received an Honorable Discharge.  Jerry was united in marriage to Judith LuAnn Squibb on April 30, 1961 in Hector, Minnesota.  The couple lived in rural Franklin, Minnesota.  Jerry worked in the trucking business and he also began farming his uncle John’s farm.  Jerry continued farming and retired in 1999 when he and Judy moved to Willmar. 

Jerry was baptized and confirmed in the Christian Faith.  He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Morton and currently he was a member of the United Methodist Church in Willmar.  He had served as a greeter, usher, and helped with the annual turkey dinner.

Jerry was active on the Minnesota Soybean Assn. and served on the board of directors for the National Soybean Assn.  He also served on the board for the Eagle Creek Golf Course and was on a traveling golf league. 

Golfing was Jerry’s passion; his family would often see Jerry swinging a club between farm chores.  He also enjoyed wintering in Arizona and visiting with people.  He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Jerry is survived by his wife Judy of Willmar; sons: Brian (and Gloria) Greenslit of Franklin, Scott (and Nancy) Greenslit of Franklin; 6 grandchildren: Jack, Dallas, Austin, Kelsey, Shane and Taylor; brother, Tom (and Barb) Greenslit of Hastings and sister, Jan (and Jack) Squibb of Hector; and several cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives. 

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.
