Ivan J. Sandmann, age 87, of Sleepy Eye, MN died on Friday, December 16, 2011 at Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax, MN. Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, December 20th, 2011 at the Faith United Methodist Church, Sleepy Eye. Friends may call on the family from 9am until the time of service at the church on Tuesday. The Clergy will be Pastor Joshua P. Doughty Interment in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye, MN. Ivan James Sandmann was born on January 19, 1924 in Eden Township, MN to Herman & Anna (Plath) Sandmann. He attended country school and later moved to Sleepy Eye where he graduated from Sleepy Eye Public School in 1943. Ivan served in the US Army in 1943 during the Battle of the Bulge in Germany until his discharge. He married Marge Schwint on August 7, 1944 in Morgan, MN. The couple made their home in Sleepy Eye where Ivan worked as a carpenter and a bulk gas truck driver for Brown County Oil. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Sleepy Eye and a life member of the American Legion and VFW. Ivan enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and spending time with his family.

Ivan is survived by his wife, Marge of Sleepy Eye, son, Michael (Judy) of Franklin, grandchildren, Teresa (Dan) Hensch, Brent (Jody), great grandchildren, Zackary and Lucas, special friends, Tom & Joyce Roberts and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Ron, brothers, Ezra and Roy, sister, Elsie and other relatives.
