Tratorria Caldo, an Italian restaurant, will open for businesses during the spring semester at Southwest Minnesota State University.
SMSU students manage every aspect of the restaurant, from the front of the house to the back. It is open Wednesdays from 5:30-8 p.m. in IL 118 beginning Feb. 1. It will not be open during spring break, March 7.
The menu consists of appetizers, salads, entrees, pasta, sandwiches, pizza and desserts. Customers may bring their own wine or beer. There is a corkage fee of $5 for four guests.
"People love Italian food and this will be a fun Italian restaurant for the community," said Associate Professor of Culinology Kurt Struwe.
No reservations will be taken, said Struwe. Information about the restaurant and its menu can be viewed at two web sites: www.SMSU.edu/go/tratorriacaldo and www.SMSU.edu.campuslife/restaurant.
The restaurant replaces the former Green Bistro. "It’s a new concept," said Struwe. "We thought that Marshall would welcome a good Italian restaurant."
The restaurant is unique to southwest Minnesota and will give diners a memorable, affordable experience, he said.
