Elvera Neudecker

Elvera was born at home in Home Township near Golden Gate on July 22, 1921 to Charles & Rose (Hillesheim) Wiltscheck. She grew up on the farm and attended District 17 School, a one room school located about 2 miles from her home. Elvera had many fond memories of teachers and school friends and enjoyed sharing those stories with her family. She also had memories of fun times she shared with her six sisters as they worked and played together on the farm. After the death of her father in 1943, Elvera moved to Sleepy Eye with her mother and two of her sisters and she worked at Al's Bakery, where she was introduced to Ollie Neudecker. Elvera and Aloysius "Ollie" were married on April 19, 1949 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. She dedicated the next 20+ years to raising their eight children. In the early 70's, Elvera began working at the Orchid Inn and continued working there for nearly 30 years. Elvera enjoyed drawing and painting and was a wonderful cook and baker. She was especially known for her delicious pies. Elvera enjoyed her travels to Germany, Medjugore, the Holy Land, the North Shore and Disneyworld where she went on all the rides. Elvera was a story teller and happily shared her many stories with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing games with her grandchildren. Elvera always had a smile on her face and something positive to say to those she met. In 2008, Elvera was named Resident of the Year at Divine Providence. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and had a special devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Elvera is survived by children, Joan (Ralph) Brose, Cass Lake, MN, Michael (Helen) Neudecker, Little Falls, MN, Mary (Tom)Bartley, Blue Earth, MN, Monica (Michael) Juba, Chaska, MN, Mark Neudecker, St. Cloud, MN, Marita(Gary) Kaminsky, New Prague, MN, Michele (Dave) Asfeld, Chokio, MN, Terese(Gene) Ebnet, New Ulm, MN; 19 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; sisters, Marie Tauer, Catherine Sellner and Rosemary Wiltscheck all of Sleepy Eye and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ollie, infant son Dennis, and sisters Dorothy Krzmarzick, Viola Krzmarzick and Agnes Forster.
