On December 26, 2011 at 1:51 PM, the Renville County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a crash involving two ATV’s. The accident occurred on 210th Street near Renville County Road 11, which is approximately four miles northwest of Renville, MN in EricsonTownship.
Investigation at the scene revealed that one of the ATV’s was being driven by Gail Novak, age 44 from Willmar, MN. Novak had been traveling northbound on 210th Street when Jerry Mitchell, age 15 from Arvado, CO, was crossing the roadway on a separate ATV. Mitchell’s ATV was also carrying a 3-year-old passenger at the time of the crash. Neither Mitchell, nor his passenger, was injured in the accident. Novak, however, was transported to Renville County Hospital & Clinic’s in Olivia by the Renville Ambulance Service and was later flown by North Memorial Air Care to the St. CloudHospital. Novak’s injuries and condition are unknown.
Agencies that responded and assisted the Sheriff’s Office at the scene include the Renville Police Department and Renville Ambulance Service. The accident is being investigated by the Renville County Sheriff’s Office.
