One dead, one injured after crash near Spicer (updated with names)

One man was killed and a woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash between Willmar and Spicer yesterday afternoon.

The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Department says it was reported at 3:53 p.m. at the intersection of Kandiyohi County Roads 9 and 27/127, near the Duinick Brothers gravel pit and the Kandiyohi Power Cooperative headquarters.

An SUV driven by 40-year-old Traci Jo Jacobs, of New London was northbound on County Road 9 and collided with a truck that was traveling eastbound on 127. The driver of the truck, 42-year-old Joshua Adam Torgeson, from Shakopee, was ejected from the truck, and was dead when first responders arrived at the scene.

Jacobs was trapped in her vehicle, extricated from the wreckage, and taken to Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar where her current condition is unknown.

Assisting at the scene were the sheriff’s office, Willmar Ambulance, Kandiyohi County Rescue, Spicer Fire and First Responders, New London Ambulance and Fire and The State Patrol.
