Montevideo Police want to talk to shooting victim

Montevideo Police Chief Adam Christopher says he’s waiting until shooting victim Angela Haugerrud is adequately recovered from her wounds to ask her more about Tuesday morning’s incident that left a man dead.

Haugerud, age 41, was found wounded on the front step of her home shortly before 12 noon. She was taken to the Montevideo Hospital and then flown to Hennepin County Medical Center where she underwent surgery Tuesday night.

Inside the home, police found David Schwartz, age 55, of Foley, dead of a gunshot wound. Schwartz had a Foley address, but was actually living in a camper in Montevideo.

There are reports Schwartz recently faced charges in another county of violating an order for protection filed by another woman. A Montevideo police spokesman said the house where the shootings took place is quite familiar to the police. Their most recent contact with Haugerud was when her car was stolen. This incident is actively under investigation.
