Montevideo Police investigating attempted murder-suicide

The Montevideo Police Department is investigating an attempted murder-suicide.

At 11:52 yesterday morning they received several 911 calls about gunshots coming from the area of 103 South 4th Street. When officers arrived they found 41-year-old Angela Haugerud lying on the front step of her home. She had been shot twice.

While searching the home officers found the body of 55-year-old David Schwartz of Foley, who died from an apparent gun shot wound.

Haugerud was conscious and was transported to the Montevideo hospital by ambulance and was later flown to Hennepin County Medical Center. The extent of her injuries are unknown at this time.

Schwartz was transported to the Anoka County Medical Examiners Office for an autopsy, and this incident is actively under investigation.

Montevideo Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Chippewa County Sheriffs Dept, Minnesota BCA, and the Minnesota State Patrol.
