Roger E. Edmonds

Roger E. Edmonds, 78, of Redwood Falls died Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 13, 2018 from Nelson-Hillestad Funeral Home in Redwood Falls with burial to follow in Redwood Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 12, 2018, from 5 until 7 p.m., and will continue on Friday, from 10 until 11 a.m., at the funeral home.

Roger E. Edmonds, the son of Howard and Lois (Carpenter) Edmonds, was born July 19, 1939 in Horton, Iowa. Roger moved with his family to Waverly, Iowa where he graduated from Waverly High School. He attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago where he met Patricia Frederickson; they were married December 29, 1961.

Roger began his ministry as Minister of Youth at First Baptist Church in Rochelle, Illinois. Roger and Pat were also blessed with the birth of their two sons while they were serving in Rochelle. Roger then attended Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Owatonna, graduating in 1972. He furthered his education at Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Minneapolis, graduating in 1976. He began his work in Farmington in 1976, then served in Red Wing for 10 years and Tyler for 11 years before moving to Redwood Falls in 2001.

In his spare time, Roger enjoyed watching sports and  playing table games.

Roger is survived by his wife Patricia of Redwood Falls; sons Allan (Jennifer) Edmonds of Astoria, South Dakota and Timothy Edmonds of Redwood Falls; granddaughter Julie (Brandon) Bjerke of Astoria; grandson Christopher (Kristen) Edmonds of Estelline, South Dakota; great-granddaughter Felicity; brother Jerry (Patty) Edmonds of Wheaton, Illinois; sister Faith (Paul) Davis of Puyallup, Washington; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Bonnie, and three great-grandchildren.
