A Celebration of Life Service for Elmer Evers, age 81 of Comfrey, will be at 10:30 AM on Thursday, April 12th, 2018 at the New Hope Lutheran Church in Comfrey with Pastor Jerome Klotz officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery in rural Comfrey.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 11th, 2018, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the New Hope Lutheran Church in Comfrey and also for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Elmer Evers passed away on Friday, April 6, 2018 at his home in Comfrey.

Elmer James Evers was born to Harm and Bena (Stadtlander) Evers on July 6, 1936 at the Mountain Lake Hospital and passed away peacefully in his sleep April 6, 2018, at his home in Comfrey at the age of 81 years.
He grew up on a farm in Selma Township and attended a country school until 5th grade. He graduated from Comfrey High School in the Class of 1954.
He farmed his whole life around Comfrey and he also worked for Comfrey Public Schools as a janitor and school bus driver.
He has three children from his first marriage: Carrie, Bryon, and Brenda.
He was united in marriage to Jane (Wilson) on February 10, 1973 at Salem Lutheran Church in Comfrey. They had three children: Chad, Greg, and Kathy.
He was a longtime, active member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Comfrey and later the New Hope Lutheran Church in Comfrey where he held several leadership positions over the years. He was a Super Rocket supporter and Friend of Education. Elmer enjoyed fishing, travel, playing dominoes, listening to polka music, dancing, and spending time with family and friends.
Elmer is survived by his loving wife of forty-five years, Jane Evers of Comfrey; Carrie (Tom) Werner of Redwood Falls; Bryon (Jennifer) Evers of Hawarden, IA; Brenda (John) Hoek of Sioux Falls, SD; Chad (Kristina) Evers of Marshall; Greg (Kristi) Evers of Sartell; Kathy (Bill) Jardine of Mondovi, WI; 12 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren; siblings, Doris Caraway of Mountain Lake; Clara Schenk of Butterfield; Walter (Marie) Evers of Comfrey; Irene (Eugene) Zimmermann of Comfrey; Richard (Susan) Evers of Comfrey; David (Sharon) Evers of Jeffers; Carol Evers (sister-in-law) of Lakota, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Herman Evers; brothers-in-law, Wayne Caraway, Ben Christianson and Armin Schenk; nephew, Curtis Evers; great nephew, Andrew Holland and great niece, Tiffany Nelson.
