Today at the State Capitol

School security and Minnesota seniors are the focus at the State Capitol today.  Lawmakers hear a report from the legislative auditor, and Republican Representative Debra Kiel from Crookston previews proposed legislation to address maltreatment of vulnerable adults at nursing homes and other facilities. A House panel considers Eden Prairie Republican Jenifer Loon’s bill that would allow school districts to use certain facilities maintenance revenue to upgrade security — a response to recent school shootings in Florida and elsewhere. And a House panel considers a bill that would establish statewide regulations for transportation network companies like Uber and Lyft. It would largely replace local ordinances.
