Domestic assault call in Milroy leads to trapped suspect, lockdown of school

On Wednesday, at approximately 11:35 am, the Redwood County Sheriff’s office was called to investigate a domestic assault related incident.

During the course this investigation, deputies attempted to make a traffic stop on a male individual in Milroy. A brief pursuit ensued, and the driver fled into a nearby building.

Deputies surrounded the building and the Brown Lyon Redwood Renville Emergency Response Unit was dispatched to the scene.

After several hours of negotiations, the male suspect was taken into custody. The Milroy Public School was placed on a brief lockdown as a result of this situation.  The identification of the male is being withheld pending formal charges.

The Redwood County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Brown / Lyon / Redwood / Renville ERU, Morgan Police Department, Lamberton Police Department, MN State Patrol, Milroy Fire Department, North Ambulance and Wabasso Ambulance.
