Vehicle passing on Highway 212 sends both cars into ditch near Danube Saturday

The Minnesota State Highway Patrol reports two vehicles that ended up in a ditch near Danube Saturday after one tried to pass the other.

At about 4:41 p.m. on Saturday, on Highway 212 near 280th Street in Renville County, a 2005 Toyota Tundra driven by Tshaj John Xiong, age 23, of St. Paul tried to pass a 2010 Chevrolet Traverse driven by Beth Marie Westerbur, age 46, of Luverne.

During the passing, Xiong lost control of his vehicle and swideswiped Westerbur’s, causing both to go into the westbound ditch.

Westerbur was transported to the Renville County Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. None of the other passengers in either vehicle were injured.

Assisting on the scene were the Renville County Sheriff’s Office, and the Renville Ambulance.
