A Willmar businessman is among the five people arrested after SWAT teams raided a home southeast of Willmar Tuesday afternoon. Guns, ammo, drugs and explosives were seized and the explosives were later detonated, causing a loud boom heard all around Willmar Tuesday night.
Arrested was 46-year-old Chad Monson, owner of Chad Monson Excavating, along with 45-year-old John Jacobson of Lake Lillian.
Back in 2013 Monson and Jacobson were arrested in Divide County North Dakota after Monson reportedly drove off with a payloader from a construction site, but that charge was later dropped against Monson. Jacobson was convicted on a trespassing charge.
Also arrested Tuesday near Willmar were 41-year-old Thomas Quimby of Willmar, 37-year-old Christina Johnson of Litchfield and 27-year-old Kayla Lindstrand of Willmar. All will be arraigned on drugs, weapons and explosives charges.
Kandiyohi County Sheriff Dan Hartog says after explosive substances were found in the home on 45th Avenue Southeast, they called in the Minneapolis Bomb Squad which decided to detonate them. The case is still under investigation.
