Two men rescued from Green Lake after truck falls through ice

The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Department says two men had to be rescued from their partially submerged pickup Friday after it plunged through the ice of Green Lake.

At 6:15 p.m. Friday they received a report that a vehicle was partially submerged in the lake about 200 yards east of the Spicer Public Access and its occupants were attempting to get out. Rescuers were dispatched and found the two men had managed to get into the bed of the pickup which was submerged up to its headlights and surrounded by water.

The men were rescued without injury by crews from the sheriff’s department, New London and Spicer Fire Departments, Spicer First Responders, New London Ambulance and Kandiyohi County Rescue.
