Two injured Monday in collision near Renville

On Monday, Dec. 4, at 7:05 p.m., the Renville County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a two vehicle accident at the intersection of County Road 21 and County Road 11.  The accident occurred approximately three miles north of Renville in Crooks Township.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Nicole Hoberg, age 24, of rural Renville, was traveling eastbound on County Road 11 in a 2011 GMC Acadia. Gregory Kopel, age 73, of rural Renville was traveling northbound on County Road 21 in a 2000 Chevy Silverado.  Kopel’s vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign, and weather may have been a contributing factor in the accident.  Hoberg and Kopel were transported to the Renville County Hospital and Clinics by the Renville Ambulance Service for non-life threatening injures.

The Renville County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident and was assisted by the Renville Police Department, Renville Ambulance Service and the Renville Fire & Rescue.
