Dorothy Evelyn Willems was born September 27, 1923 at Rodman, Iowa, to Edward and Emma (Hanson) Graham. When she was young the family moved to Tracy, MN, where she grew up and attended school. After her schooling Dorothy worked at several local businesses. Dorothy met Lando Edward “Smokey” Willems and they were married September 6, 1946 in Tracy. They made their home in Tracy in the home Smokey built for the family and later lived in Olivia for many years. During retirement they lived at Park Rapids and New London. Smokey died in 2012 and shortly thereafter Dorothy moved to Oak Terrace Senior Living in Jordan. She was a devoted mother, enjoyed the holidays especially giving and receiving gifts, and cherished family events. Dorothy had also enjoyed sewing in her younger years, her dogs and parakeets, getting her hair done, watching game shows, and spent many hours doing word searches.
Dorothy is survived by her three children: Mary (and Bob) Ryan of Bird Island, Sue (and Steve) Hoenk of Byron, and Jim (and Lynn) Willems of Chaska; her 11 grandchildren: Brian, Amy, Jayme, Seth, Chris, Ben, Zach, Noah, Kylie, Kelsey, and Kaelyn; her 12 great-grandchildren; and her two great-great-grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded by her husband Smokey; her daughter Nancy Hinrichs in 1995; her sisters: Edith Maranell and Verna Engler; and her brothers: Victor Graham, Albert Graham, and James Graham.
Blessed Be Her Memory
