Eighty people attended Monday night’s BOLD School Board meeting in Olivia, wanting answers about why the board decided not to renew Superintendent John Dotson’s contract.
The board had asked neighboring school districts about the possibility of sharing a superintendent but were shown no interest by Willmar, MACCRAY, ACGC and Redwood Valley. RCW and BLHS reluctantly said they’d talk about it at a future work session.
The board was presented with a petition signed by 328 people demanding the board rescind their vote from earlier this month and offer Dotson a contract extension. Some also objected to what they called divisive letters to the editor about teachers, coaches, board members and staff published in the Renville County Register.
After taking public comment, the board did not address the petition but put a vote to hire a search firm to find a replacement for Dotson on hold.
