The civil jury trial for a rural Spicer couple who are suing the manufacturers of a hoverboard after a house fire takes place one month from now.
A pretrial hearing took place this morning in Kandiyohi County District Court in the case of Kris and Joel Paffrath against Trifecta Deals Corporation of New York. The Paffraths are asking for damages in excess of $50,000 after they say a defective hoverboard caused a fire in July of 2016 which killed four of their dogs and caused more than $50,000 in damage to their home. Kris Paffrath also was reportedly hurt in the fire.
When the fire started, the hoverboard was plugged into an outlet in the kitchen, being recharged. The trial is set to begin Monday December 26th.
