Four football players from Blue Earth Area High School are facing felony charges, accused of beating a teammate unconscious.
The suspects were arrested Friday, the day after Blue Earth lost to Pipestone in the state Class AA quarterfinals.
The alleged assault happened October 19th at a house party in the 500 block of Third Avenue Southwest in Winnebago. Police began investigating November 9th after learning of the assault from a school resource officer. The four teens are accused of holding down and punching the victim in the head and face while he tried unsuccessfully to get up.
The suspects were released from jail Monday after charges had been filed and have upcoming court dates in the next two weeks.
