Ruben Lange

Ruben Lange, 92, of Redwood Falls died Friday, November 17, 2017 at Sunwood Good Samaritan Care Center in Redwood Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, December 1, 2017 from St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Redwood Falls with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, from 10 until 11:30 a.m., at the church.

Ruben Clifford Lange, the son of Carl and Elsie (Rudenick) Lange, was born September 9, 1925 on the family farm in Waterbury Township, Redwood County. He received his formal education in the nearby country school. Following his schooling, Ruben farmed with his father.

On February 27, 1954, Ruben married Elizabeth “Betty” Peter in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Seaforth. Ruben and Betty settled on the family farm in Waterbury Township where they farmed until 1987. They relocated to Redwood Falls in 2000. Ruben enjoyed playing the button accordion and played with Hugo Spalding and Jan Gumpinger in the L&S Band for many years. He also played in nursing homes and for private parties. Ruben enjoyed dancing, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends.

He is survived by his wife Betty of Redwood Falls; daughter Dianne (Rene) Jenniges of Wabasso; and sons Craig (Cheri) Lange of Redwood Falls, Steven (Rose) Lange of Reedley, California, Jerome Lange of St. Francis, and Bradley (Faith) Lange of Wesley Chapel, Florida. Also surviving are grandsons Travis (Mary) Jenniges of South Haven, Scott Jenniges of Owatonna, Brian and Joseph Lange of Reedley, California, Mitchell (Tara) Lange and Adam Lange of Vicksburg, Virginia, Kyle Lange of Osseo, and Yardley Lange of Wesley Chapel; granddaughters Dawn (Karl) Guetter of Wabasso, Stacey (P.J.) Agness of Maple Grove,  Marissa Lange of Coon Rapids, Mercedes and Elexis Lange of Wesley Chapel; and great-grandchildren Chelsey, Madison, Brayden, and Kenley Guetter; Nicholas, Makayla and Hailey Jenniges; Keegan Lange; Ashlyn Lange; and Isabella Agness.

Ruben was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Laura Kay Lange; brothers Ernest, Edward, Arthur, and Clarence; and sisters Elizabeth Kratzke, Leona Welsch, and Rosella Hagert.
