With its high ranking nationally, it should come as no surprise that a new report has named Mankato-North Mankato as the drunkest city in Minnesota.
According to the analysis by 24/7 Wall Street, nearly one-fourth of adults in Mankato-North Mankato drink excessively, the largest share among all of the state’s five Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSA).
Despite that ranking, only 18% of traffic deaths in Mankato-North Mankato are attributable to alcohol, which is the smallest rate among Minnesota’s MSAs and well below the 31% statewide.
The drunkest city in Iowa is Iowa City. In Wisconsin, it’s Green Bay, while Fargo and Sioux Falls are the drunkest in the Dakotas.
Earlier this year, 24/7 Wall Street ranked Mankato-North Mankato as the 11th drunkest city in the nation.
The Mankato-North Mankato MSA includes all of Blue Earth and Nicollet counties. The other MSAs in Minnesota are the Twin Cities, St. Cloud, Rochester and Duluth.
