Arnold Francis Hillesheim age 90, of Springfield, died on November 5, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Visitation will be on Friday, November 10, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield Chapel and will continue on Saturday from 9:30 am until 10:30 am at the St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Springfield.
There will be a Parish Prayer Service on Friday at 6:30 pm at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.
Service will be held at the St. Raphael’s Catholic Church on Saturday at 10:30 am.
The clergy will be Father Phil Schotzko. Interment will be at the St. Raphael’s Catholic Cemetery in Springfield, MN.

Arnold Francis Hillesheim was born February 6, 1927, to Christopher and Amelia (Evan) Hillesheim in Springfield, MN. He attended St. Raphael’s Catholic School and the attended and graduated from Springfield Public Schools. In his senior year, Arnie enlisted in the navy and was stationed in the United States. On June 2, 1948, he was united in marriage to Marie Riederer at the Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth. He worked for Steinke-Seidl Lumberyard as the manager and after his retirement he drove for Brown County Heartland Express for 9 years. Arnie enjoyed having coffee with the boys, reading, gardening, sudoku puzzles, and golf. He served on the Springfield Fire Department for 31 years acting as chief for 17 of those years and also served on the ambulance for 22 years. Arnie was a member of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church and a 70 year member of the Springfield American Legion.
He is survived by his children – Mary Kay Kieper of Springfield and Mark Hillesheim and husband Kevin Wasilewski of Minneapolis; 8 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; sister Mary Jane Lake of New York; sister-in-law Arlene Kral of New Ulm and his dog Lilly. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Marie; son Michael (Nitsa) Hillesheim; and brothers – Christopher (Ruth Reeder) Hillesheim and Cletus Hillesheim; and a brother-in-law – Jerry Lake.
