Caryn JandlCaryn Jandl, age 60, died Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at her home in Olivia.  Mass of Christian Burial is Saturday 10:30 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia with Rev. Dennis Labat as celebrant.  Burial is in the Olivia Cemetery.  Visitation is Friday 5-7 p.m. at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia and continues Saturday from9:15-10:15 a.m..

Caryn Alysse Jandl was born June 4, 1956 in LaCrosse, WI, to Delbert and Charlotte (Varner) Wittman.  Caryn grew up in Bird Island, MN, until the age of 12.  The family moved to Montevideo in June of 1969, where they lived until 1971.  Caryn and her mother then moved to Canton, Ohio and she graduated from Perry High School.  In 1975 Caryn moved back to Minnesota and made her home in Olivia.  Caryn worked at Renville Co. Hospital and the Olivia Nursing Home.  On April 15, 1995 Caryn was baptized into the Catholic faith.   In the early years at St. Aloysius Catholic Church Caryn served on the Worship Committee, Religious Ed Committee, Pastoral Council, and taught four years of Kindergarten Religious Education.  Caryn also served one term as CCW Secretary, was a Lector, Communion Minister, Rosary leader, and was a partner on the Parish Prayer Network.  Caryn also enjoyed working the Ice Cream Social and Fall Dinner doing whatever she could do.  Caryn loved her Catholic faith and wanted nothing more than to do God’s work. In September of 1991 Caryn started working for St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia as a secretary. She worked there until January of 2003 and then went to work at Parkview Village Assisted Living in November of 2004.  Caryn worked at Parkview until March, 2015, when she was diagnosed with cancer. Caryn met and married James Jandl on July 13, 2001, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Caryn loved dogs as well as all animals and truly loved them like they were her children.  Caryn also relished time with her tenants and neighborhood children.  Caryn loved babysitting everyone’s dogs and cats, and the kids next door when they were younger and whenever she got the opportunity.  Caryn also enjoyed spending time with her husband and step-son Anthony.

Caryn is survived by her husband James of Olivia; step-son Anthony of Balaton, MN; two sisters: Lucretia McIntosh of Rapid City, SD and Doris (and Roy) Newsome of Bolivar, OH; sister-in-law Karen (and Jerry) Kleene of Maynard; mother-in-law Mary Ann and (Erik) Wersen of Stacy; father-in-law James Jandl Sr. and Karen Hall of Isanti; her two sisters-in-law: Alana (and John) Ryan of Tennessee and Kathy Friend of Forest Lake; her four nieces: Debra McIntosh of Hector, Rommell (and Mark) Hendrickson of Elk River, Angie (and Todd) Haffner of Elk River and Kris (and Mike) Lease of Brainerd; her special cousins: Galen (and Marcy) Wittman of Hutchinson and Linda (and Brian) Radloff of Cosmos; and many other nieces and nephews; as well as her special K-9 buddies: Wilson, Scooter, Turbo, Moochie, Cloe and Nessie and special Feline friends: Kitty, Felix and Tuffy.  Caryn was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; one brother, Chuck in 1995; many aunts and uncles; and her canine buddies; Jasper, Prince, Jewel and Kix.
